Dr. Carson may gaffe, and that's okay, but this man is an amazing motivational speaker and can speak from the heart when he puts his heart and mind to it. Then again, what would we really expect from a noted Neurosurgeon, right? Well, he's at it again, this time basically saying, "reign it in, this doesn't pass the sniff test, innocent until proven guilty" speech.
Carson made an appearance on The O’Reilly Factor last week, and he expressed his sympathy for the Brown family, but said that people need to be careful about jumping to conclusions without knowing all the facts:
"Dr. MLK was so effective is because he quelled the temptation towards violence and in fact brought a lot of attention to the injustices that were done. If in case an injustice that were being done, and we don't know that answer to that we have to let the process to take place. "
"But if it has, by rioting, by hurting
people who have nothing to do with the incident, the people engaged in that are
actually detracting from the injustice that was done, so they aren't helping
the family they aren't helping the young man's memory by doing and I hope that
there will be some leaders that will tell these people."
“We need to recognize that police are
individuals too. They have feelings also. We need to hear from this police
officer. They are trained to shoot to
kill, or to shoot to stop. We need to understand, why did he shoot to kill
instead of shooting to stop.”
Irrespective of the events in Ferguson, Dr. Carson’s
advice would serve us well in an America where we all too often are more
anxious to point fingers, assess blame, and examine the color of the other guy's
skin, rather take a break, breath and find solutions to the
problems at hand.
