Putting the Blog to bed: Midnight Oil - Beds Are Burning

This song is from the 80s, however if you listen to it, it could be a song straight out of the Red State rising.

The time has come

To say fair's fair
To pay the rent
To pay our share

The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
Let's give it back

How can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep while our beds are burning?
How can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep while our beds are burning?

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent, now
To pay our share

Four wheels scare the cockatoos
From Kintore East to Yuendemu
The western desert lives and breathes
In forty five degrees

How can we dance when our earth is turning?
How do we sleep while our beds are burning?

Ironically, the "progressives" of that day were called "liberals," burning bras and crosses in Republican's yards and they were convincing themselves that they were "doing something righteous for the cause of liberty and freedom."  Which is why the reinvented "progressives" of this day have reinventing themselves, trying to reclaim that feeling of being "needed" today.

However, all they are doing is further dividing our Country, by trying to convince the world that blacks are being "oppressed," forgetting that even in that day, we had Gladys Knight and the pips, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, the Supremes, the Temptations, and later Michael and Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Earth Wind and Fire, (all black) and what about the Senators, Congressman, Doctors, Lawyers and Judges, and that's just for starters.  But hey, what do we care about the facts, when they can rewrite history?
