Last
Monday an unruly chicken was causing a disturbance in Portland, OR. Where else,
right? Actually, it was only doing what chickens do . . . crossing the road. This
travesty led one citizen to dial 911 and report the nefarious chicken. But, by
the time police had arrived, the chicken was nowhere in sight.
The
Portland Police Bureau issued a statement after this incident, outlining how
citizens should treat similar poultry infractions. While "chicken crossing road" jokes have been
told for more than a century, animals in the roadway creating traffic hazards
are no laughing matter. If you see animals (or people) in or near the roadway
potentially causing a traffic hazard, please call the Police Non-Emergency line
at (503) 823-3333.
