Americans Narrate ISIS Feature Film: Flames of War

Remember Thursday, September 18, 2014. Why? This was the day Democrats successfully blocked S.2779 : Expatriate Terrorist Act, first introduced by Senator Ted Cruz on September 9, 2014. This legislation at its core recommends stripping American citizenship from those who join the jihad cause and actively train with terrorists with the intent of harming US citizens.

After his proposed legislation had been blocked, Cruz, rather eloquently, summed up the lunacy of the party currently in charge:

“The question is very simple: would any reasonable person want an American who is right now in Iraq, who is right now training with ISIS, who is right now taking up arms, who is right now participating in crucifying Christians, who is right now beheading children, who [has] right now participated in beheading two American journalists, who is right now standing arm-in-arm with virulent terrorists who have pledged to take jihad to America — would anyone of good conscience in either party want that person to be able to come back and land in LaGuardia airport with a U.S. passport and walk unmolested onto our streets?” he said.

“The obvious answer is no, and it saddens me that we could not see Republicans and Democrats come together,” he continued. “It saddens me that in an election year the Democratic senators up for election chose to block this common-sense legislation, rather than to work together to protect the American citizens. I hope in time we see less election-year politics and more service to the men and women who all of us are obliged to protect.”

As a Houstonian who voted to send Cruz to Washington, I am proud of the character of my Senator who is fighting for what is right for the American people. Once again, Ted is pointing out the obvious. The new jihadists (the ones Obama called the "JV Team") have a far reach, thanks to the Internet and social media. Their recruiting efforts have reached the United States, and we do have citizens actively supporting and, in some cases, leaving with their passports to travel to the Middle East to train and take up arms with terrorists. When they return, those who have been identified can be monitored, but it appears little will be done to prevent them from unleashing spontaneous terror attacks in the homeland.

According to the Daily Mail, 

As many as 40 Americans have returned to the U.S. after fighting for the ISIS terror army overseas and are under investigation by the FBI. Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop made the remarks during a speech to Long Island Metro Business Action on September 12.

'One of the concerns is the number of U.S. citizens who have left our country to go join up with ISIS,' he said. 'It is believed there have been some number up to 100 that have done that.''It is also believed that some 40 of those who left this country to join up with ISIS have now returned to our country. Those 40 are under FBI attention and surveillance. So they are known and they are being tracked by the FBI.' 

American jihadis, part of a swelling 'foreign fighter' contingent aiding the self-designated Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) could put their ideologies and experience to work in the United States, a fact that has some in Congress clamoring for easier ways to revoke their citizenship. The Pentagon said two weeks ago that only about a dozen Americans had left the country to join up with ISIS, while as many as 100 are suspected of taking up arms with a wider range of Islamist extremist groups in the Middle East and Africa.
