I have to give proper credit for this post to the hosts of Sit Down & Talk Right who have a fresh and interesting take on news and exposing liberal lunacy. I had heard that AngieSenseiofSass (@Artist_Angie) and Pol (@PointlessPol) had joined Wayne Dupree's WAARadio on Tuesday evenings at 10 pm EST, but since I have a four-year-old manipulator of my free time at home, I usually have to catch up much later on podcast.
So, on my way home the other day, I listened to Angie and Pol who happened to take on the subject of progressive feminist lunacy. By the way, thanks Pol for the introduction to Charles Clymer (@cmclymer) the acclaimed Army veteran and feminist. My Twitter life has forever changed.
Angie was playing a game called Tampon Run. Well, you know that once I got home I had to Google it to see for myself. The site explains that the geniuses behind the game are Andrea Gonzales and Sophie Houser . . . high school students in NYC. "We met this summer at Girls Who Code (@ IAC), an organization trying to close the gender gap in tech, where we cultivated our love of coding. This is our final project for the program."

I'm all for teaching and encouraging our youth to be entrepreneurs, but what I thought had to be joke, has really turned out to be a serious feminist attempt to shed light on the perception both women and men have today of the menstrual cycle. When I was a young girl being initiated into Eve's curse, it was thought of as a private, yet normal issue all women deal with. I didn't discuss it with guys, nor did any male make me feel subconscious or ever belittle me for partaking in a natural bodily function that was oftentimes an unpleasant side effect of the ability to further the human race.
My father had no problems picking up Tampons for me at the store as my husband will today if the need arises. Which leads me to question . . . when did things change and who is making young girls feel this way? The answer appears to be very simple . . . Feminists.
You have GOT to play @TamponRunner NOW! Brava @Girlswhocode alums Sophie and Andy - and thanks @reshmasaujani! http://t.co/IoOMiJ6vpm

Thanks Kim, you were able to touch on a lot of the things that we glossed over. We could have done a whole show just on the intro screens but the last thing I want to be labeled as is "Tampon Talk." Not because there's anything wrong with it but because they are making something that we've never seen as an issue into an issue. 'Tampon Runs' have been a more common occurrence for me over the years than beer runs have; I have yet to bear witness to the stigma they continually reference.
ReplyDeleteHonored to have been mentioned here and appreciate your take on it. Please attach me on any future works not me/Angie related and I will help you get the word out. :)
Kim is great, isn't she? I was kinda hoping you'll do an update show. Heck, call it 'strings attached' ;) You started something here, and it's hard enough getting kids talking about such a sensitive subject, their changing bodies, just as it is getting our husband's to go in and buy that ever-embarrassing box of cotton. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Will do! Love the show.
