British family shocked to receive text message from dead grandmother.

By Rob Janicki

It turns out that grandma was buried with several close possessions, including her cell phone.  Leslie Emerson died in 2011 reportedly at age 59, which seems sort of young, but who am I to judge whether grandma was a pregnant teenager or not.

Her granddaughter Sheri, 22, found comfort in continuing to sending text messages to her grandmother's phone.Sheri was stunned last week to get a reply reading "I'm watching over you.""I felt sick when I read it," Sheri told the Shields Gazette. "I was in shock and didn't know what to think."

I'm not certain why Sheri was stunned to receive a reply from Grandma, since she texted grandma regularly, thus exhibiting a belief in the hereafter.  It turns out that the phone company reissued grandma's phone number and the holder of the new phone number thought he was being pranked by friends.  Both the phone company and the new user of grandma's phone number apologized for the mishap.  It's unknown what cell phone model grandma took with her, but it must have been one hell of a cell phone land battery for Sheri to think grandma was actually texting her after three years of pushing up daisies.
