When Thomas Eric Duncan boarded a flight that would ultimately lead him and Ebola to Dallas, TX, the majority of American hospitals were not prepared. According to Briana Aguirre, the whistleblower nurse from Texas Presbyterian Hospital, when Duncan was admitted to the hospital with full-blown symptoms of Ebola, the scene was chaotic. Nurses on the front line of care were not provided full protective gear nor protocol information to protect them from accidental exposure and infection of the deadly disease.
