Battle Creek, Michigan has reason to be proud of one of its police officers. According to the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety,

Pso [Ben] Hall was on routine patrol when he effected a traffic on a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver he discovered that there was a small child in the car who was restrained in a seatbelt but not in a car seat. The young mom advised Pso Hall that she understood the importance of having the child in a car seat but because of her limited income could not afford one at this time. Being near Walmart, Pso Hall had the young lady and her daughter pull into the parking lot where Pso Hall went inside and purchased a car seat for her to keep her daughter in.

Police officer Hall gave us a glimpse of what can happen when you go above and beyond your job description. He is sworn to uphold the law and ensure safety, but by using common sense and open heart, he saw that a ticket wouldn't solve Alexis DeLorenzo's problem and wouldn't keep her young daughter safe.

In a Facebook posting, the mother expressed how this officer's actions made a difference, deflecting the negative comments that she didn't prioritize and spend her money wisely, choosing to endanger her young child:
