#ThrowbackThursday - Remember When Carney Said . . .
by Kim D.
Let's go back in time to April 23, 2012, when Jay Carney claimed:
“First of all, to make clear, the Secret Service is investigating specific allegations of misconduct by members of the Secret Service. The Defense Department is investigating specific allegations of misconduct by members of the military. There have been no specific, credible allegations of misconduct by anyone on the White House advance team or the White House staff. Nevertheless, out of due diligence, the White House Counsel’s office has conducted a review of the White House advance team, and in concluding that review, came to the conclusion that there’s no indication that any member of the White House advance team engaged in any improper conduct or behavior. So, simply out of due diligence, over the last several days that review was conducted, and it produced no indication of any misconduct.”
Well, this appears to have been a liar-liar-pants-on-fire moment for Carney. According to the Washington Post,
new details drawn from government documents and interviews show that senior White House aides were given information at the time suggesting that a prostitute was an overnight guest in the hotel room of a presidential advance-team member — yet that information was never thoroughly investigated or publicly acknowledged.
Or, perhaps this was just an attempt to brush off yet another "non scandal" before the 2012 election.
