It's disturbing when a person, of any race, takes to social media to spew hateful, racist comments. The words are hurled like daggers to anyone who reads them. Unlike sparring one-on-one with another who holds different ideological viewpoints, racist, blanket-statement tweets are meant only to demean and spark hatred.

Professional rabble rousers use these tactics which are frequently displayed on social media. But, what happens when this mentality spills over to everyday folks, the staples of a community? Hopefully, soon, in Duncanville, Texas, parents will wake up and ask this question: who, exactly, is teaching our children?

One such person, moonlighting as a Ferguson agitator, is Vinta L. Hegwood, more commonly known by profession as a Duncanville High School English teacher. Her recent controversial tweets from now-deleted account @duckseason6 have made thunderous waves.

According to Right Wing News, 

An African American high school teacher in Duncanville, Texas had a message for you “dumb duck ass cracker” white people who want to talk about the problems in Ferguson. You should shut up. Oh, and she wants you to kindly “kill yourselves.”

Overnight Vinita became a notorious Twitter sensation, and it appears she has gotten herself into a pickle with her employer, Duncanville ISD:

As an individual, Ms. Vinita Hegwood expressed an opinion on social media that is solely her own. She used her personal social media account to make remarks that are offensive. While everyone has the right to free speech, as a teacher in the district, we believe the comments that are alleged to be made by Ms. Hegwood are absolutely reprehensible and we do not condone it.

So, now the spin begins as Hegwood is hinting that her controversial response was tweeted in defense. But, does that matter? Is this the type of person we want shaping young minds?
