Best Comeback to American Sniper Snide Comments, from the Grave

Before Chris Kyle died, he was on CONAN to talk about his book, American Sniper. While there, his tours in Iraq came up and O'Brien got the rather humble Kyle to laugh, admit he wishes he'd tried out for advanced training and Seal Team6 and talk about his duties in Iraq.  

Out of the 5 minute interview came the best comeback line about American Sniper:

Humbly, "I was just a monkey on a gun" a suggestion at which O’Brien scoffed.

Funny, I've never seen O'Brien as uncomfortable as when Kyle's striking show of respect repeatedly addresses Conan as ‘sir’, elicited this response:

"You don’t have to call me, sir. I’m just a talk show host. You’re up here and I’m down here."
Of course, "sir" kept flowing.

Despite criticism, American Sniper continues to shatter box office records and has earned the Academy's Best-Picture nomination. A remarkable, and well earned, success that the proud military veteran and humble author deserves.
