#ObamaTravelBan Excuses - Gotta Laugh or You'll Cry #BanTheFlights

by Kim D.

During a Thursday evening press briefing on Ebola, the President shared with the American people why he believed a travel ban from infected countries isn't a good idea, although he claimed he wasn't "philosophically" against taking this protective measure if advised to do so by health and security experts.

“If we institute a travel ban instead of the protocols we put into place now, history shows that there is a likelihood of increased avoidance,” the president said. “People do not readily disclose their information, they may engage in something called broken travel — essentially breaking up their trip so that they can hide the fact they have been to one of these countries were the disease is in place.“And as a result, we may end up getting less information about who has the disease, they are less likely to get treated properly, screened properly, quarantined properly, and as a consequence we may end up having more cases rather than less,” Obama added.
The President and the government he has built with his progressive ideology have zero credibility with a good portion of the American people. Common sense tells anyone that if the borders are sealed and flights are banned from infected countries, the chances are less likely that persons infected with Ebola will enter and spread this deadly disease. With the current plan in place, what is to stop numerous individuals who may suspect they have been infected from traveling to America and overwhelming hospitals?
Again, frustrated Tweeters, led by The Morning Spew, were quick to point out the idiocy in Obama's logic for not instituting an immediate travel ban and offered the President some suggestions for his next excuse. Sometimes you simply need to laugh or you'll cry.

When Will it Be Time to #BanFlights from #Ebola Infected Countries?

by Kim D.

According to Daily Mail, David Dausey, a top epidemiologist, is sounding the alarm bells. Now is the time to ban all travel from Ebola-infected nations:
David Dausey, a Yale-educated academic who has been nationally recognized for his research on the spread of infectious diseases, says the bungling public health response to US Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan proves that the country cannot afford another case. "'The human errors in this single case highlight why it is urgent that we ban all commercial flights from the impacted countries to all non-affected countries until the outbreak is contained."

Dausey's claim adds credence to a White House Petition created October 1, 2014. Have the FAA ban all incoming and outgoing flights to ebola-stricken countries until the ebola outbreak is contained currently has 22,291 signatures and must reach 100K by October 31st. The petition claims
The Ebola virus has reached unprecedented epidemic proportions in West Africa, and has been joined by another unrelated concurrent outbreak in the Congo. Experts had stated it was 'highly unlikely' that ebola would show up on American soil. But now it has, in the City of Dallas, Texas, brought here by an individual who entered our country from the West African nation of Liberia, where ebola is rampant. The citizens of the US are scared. We do not want any more ebola-infected individuals bringing the epidemic to our shores. The longer we allow people to enter our country from ebola-stricken areas, the higher the chance another person infected with ebola will arrive here, putting ALL of our citizens at risk. Please tell the FAA to ban ALL incoming flights from any/all ebola-stricken regions.
Is this more fear mongering or the cry for government leaders to apply common sense?
