Army laser weapon passes big test.
Perhaps this could be used to slice through
the fog of political confrontations we see in the White House and between the
Senate and the House. Okay, that's a
step too far, but here goes with what we actually know.
A new laser weapon Boeing is
developing for the U.S. Army cleared a major test by cutting through fog to
destroy enemy targets. The High Energy Laser Mobile
Demonstrator (HEL MD) successfully took out drones and 60mm mortars under
sub-optimal conditions during tests in Florida earlier this year, the company
announced Sept. 4. Read more WashingtonTimes

And all this is being done with a 10 kilowatt
system, which Boeing sees advancing to the 50kw to 60kw range. Here to fore in lab tests, cutting through
the water vapor of fog was a problem.
After ten years of testing, apparently this road block has been
overcome.
This latest development in a mobile laser weapons system will change modern warfare as we know it. It's here and not off in some distant laboratory. Boeing will be working to scale up this system that has untold applications in both conventional warfare modes and in the modern field of terrorist warfare.
