Hillary does high wire act to support Alison Grimes in Kentucky.

By Rob Janicki

Hillary Clinton's busy midterm campaign schedule carried her to Kentucky on Wednesday, where she headlined a rally in support of Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democrat taking on Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.

Considering the DNC pulled their ad money in support of Alison Lundergran Grimes's campaign, Hillary is taking somewhat of a chance appearing with a candidate losing in the polls beyond the mere margin of error.  The clue here is that Clinton wouldn't make such an appearance with a losing candidate, unless she was looking toward the 2016 presidential nomination.

In balance, Hillary has probably calculated she stands to gain long-term support from Grimes, which overcomes any short-term negatives from supporting a losing Grimes' campaign.  In essence, Hillary looks like the good Democratic Party soldier for supporting Grimes.  But, we all know that Hillary has laid down a marker that she will collect on in 2016.

Clinton, a former U.S. secretary of state, lauded Grimes as a "vigorous, intelligent, determined young woman," saying Kentucky voters have a "stark choice" to make.

Clinton is right about the stark choice, since Grimes has sold out the coal industry in Kentucky and has conducted a deceitful campaign rife with smears against McConnell even extending to his wife, Elaine Chao, former Secretary of Labor from 2001 to 2009 covering both terms of the George W. Bush administration.

President Obama is deeply unpopular in the state, and McConnell has linked Grimes with the national Democrats at every available turn, saying she'd be little more than a rubber stamp for Mr. Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, if she makes it to the Senate.

Grimes' latest and possibly greatest faux pas was refusing repeatedly to admit that she voted for Obama in 2012, when confronted by a reporter. That deceit has not set well with Kentucky voters and the most recent polls indicate their displeasure with Grimes.
