Following up on a previous posting where we reported Hunter Biden being cashiered out of the Naval Reserve for testing positive for cocaine use, we report on the latest news in Hunter Biden's professional career as an attorney.
. . . the Connecticut Bar announced that it was not initiating any reviews of the younger Biden's law license.Lawyers in Connecticut face an automatic review of their licenses when they have been convicted of a crime, but Biden's dismissal from the Navy for cocaine, the Bar Association said, did not rise to that threshold. The Connecticut Bar is probably similar to many other state bar associations in disbarring members. An attorney does not have to have committed and been convicted of a crime to be disbarred. Usually attorney behavior that has endangered the legal or financial positions of clients or that violated specific bar association rules of practice would be enough for a bar association to consider and possibly seek disciplinary action against an offending attorney. In Hunter Biden's situation he did not commit a crime or violate any of the of Connecticut Bar rules. His actions did not constitute an act or actions of moral turpitude, since they did not injure or endanger anyone. It remains to be seen what effect Biden's actions will have on his present employment or future employment. With the name of Biden, Hunter may well be insulated from any adverse effects upon his immediate future in the practice of law.
