To
Obama, virtually every problem he has encountered as president is
"fixable" by political means and his latest "fixable"
moment is no different.
President Barack Obama on Friday turned to a trusted adviser to lead the nation’s Ebola response as efforts to clamp down on any possible route of infection from three Texas cases expanded, reaching a cruise ship at sea and multiple airline flights.Notice that the operative phrase is "clamp down" which best describes the role of Obama's choice for Ebola control Czar. If you thought that this appointee would be a world-class expert in epidemiology issues, you would be seriously wrong. It's not known whether Klain ever took so much as a first-aid course, let alone having a working knowledge of epidemiology or any other medical specialty. Klain is a JD, not an MD. Translation: Klain is an attorney. If you think that is what's needed for an Ebola Czar, I'm thinking you voted for Obama, twice. That's the only explanation.
Facing renewed criticism of his handling of the Ebola risk, Obama will make Ron Klain, a former chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, his point man on fighting Ebola at home and in West Africa. Klain will report to national security adviser Susan Rice and to homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco, the White House said.Several easily discernible facts can be derived from the description of Ron Klain's background. It's obvious that Obama has appointed a purely political "fixer" to take the pressure off of himself. The Ebola debacle has clearly indicated the fact that the Obama administration was completely unprepared to have a policy in place to deal with all the possible contingencies of Ebola making its way to America from West Africa.
Once again, Obama has found himself behind the curve. Couple that with his dithering, which is par for the course, and Obama finds himself in his latest political jam. His approval numbers having been falling like a rock, and the chaos surrounding his administration's handling of the Ebola issue may well be compounded by the selection of Klain, whose claim to fame is that he is a notable political "fixer," shorthand for political "spin master" or PR guru. In any case it's obvious that Klain was selected for big loyalty to the Democrat Party and to protect Obama from further embarrassment on his inept handling of the Ebola debacle.
Ron Klain, the former longtime Democratic Party operative named last week to be the White House's 'Ebola czar,' will skip a Republican-led congressional panel's hearing on Friday about the government's response to the disease outbreak.
The Democratic-controlled Senate won't hold its first hearing on the epidemic crisis until after Election Day.
The White House's decision to spare him tough questions from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee comes after he missed two Ebola-focused meetings chaired by President Barack Obama in the first 48 hours after his appointment.
The first came Friday afternoon, hours before he a White House pool reporter spotted him entering the White House at 5:30 p.m.
The second – a nighttime gathering of 20 government VIPs, including Obama – came a day later after the president finished a round of golf.
This entire situation
would be laughable if it weren't so serious. Obama has failed and
continues to fail America with his inept and incompetent leadership of the
Ebola crisis. Americans want a leader, not a community activist stumbling
about on a matter as serious as Ebola. Unfortunately, that does not look
to change with the "fixer" in place.
